Projects + Independent Concepts

These projects demonstrate how existing businesses, organizations, programs, and resources can be developed to support growth, strengthen operations, establish new services and partnerships, communications and outreach, resources and address social or environmental needs. Several began with a request for one service, but examining the larger situation revealed different priorities or additional opportunities. The resulting strategies have included operating systems, business expansion, joint ventures, organizational structures, programs, partnerships, and staged development.

These concepts explore how existing materials, services, businesses, organizations, places, and individual abilities could support new activities, services, enterprises, and ways of meeting social or environmental needs. Each considers what is already available, how the different elements could operate together, what practical or financial arrangements would be needed, and how an initiative could continue, expand, or support additional opportunities.

Both begin by looking at what is already present: programs, people, relationships, resources, spaces, skills, interests, and existing activity, and considering what could be strengthened, connected, used differently, or made more accessible.
