Building Toward a Ten Year Vision for a Community Hub
Organizational Expansion + Phased Venture Development
An established organization envisioned a community destination bringing together recreation, education, wellness, commercial activities, and programs serving the surrounding area. Three existing properties offered a practical starting point. One was used for only part of the day, another supported established activities but carried substantial overhead, and a third remained largely unused. I developed a ten year strategy connecting those facilities to the larger vision. Each property would introduce and test a different component of the eventual destination, establishing programs, partnerships, community participation, and organizational capabilities in stages. The concept also incorporated complementary business ventures and a charitable community component, giving different participants defined roles and opportunities to contribute. Initial pilots would inform a coordinated model for additional locations, followed by larger community hubs and eventually the complete destination.
The strategy addressed the leadership, staffing, facilities, funding, partnerships, and organizational capacity required at successive stages.
Development completed: A ten year expansion strategy connecting existing facilities, initial pilots, a repeatable organizational model, and the larger destination vision.
Status: Strategy adopted and being pursued.

Recognizing a Venture Between Two Independent Businesses
Joint Venture Design + Commercial Partnership
Two businesses approached Reference independently, each seeking opportunities for growth. One had established facilities, programs, and customers. The other offered specialized wellness and recovery equipment, products, and professional expertise. Recognizing the complementary strengths of both businesses, I introduced the owners and developed a joint venture concept for a shared wellness and recovery service. The proposed venture would bring specialized offerings into an established setting, creating a new commercial opportunity for both participants. A one year pilot provided a practical starting point for introducing the service, evaluating demand, and establishing the foundation for a continuing venture. The development addressed financial participation, governance, equipment, staffing, customer access, maintenance, operating responsibilities, and future expansion.
Development completed: A joint venture concept, proposed commercial framework, and structured pilot strategy.
Status: Strategy adopted; pilot in development.

Developing a Charitable Organization from Existing Strengths
Organizational Development + Community Participation
An established organization wanted to create a charitable arm with its own identity, programs, and place in the community. Existing facilities, experienced people, activities, and organizational relationships provided a foundation for something more substantial than a traditional fundraising initiative. I developed a coordinated concept bringing educational programs, family participation, charitable activities, and business collaboration together around the proposed organization. Businesses and professionals would have opportunities to contribute expertise, resources, and sponsorship. Participants could become involved through activities suited to their interests and abilities, creating connections between public engagement and the organization's broader purpose. The development addressed identity, programs, participation, funding, staffing, facilities, partnerships, and requirements for continued growth.
Development completed: A charitable organization concept and strategic framework built around existing capabilities and new opportunities for community participation.
Status: Concept and strategic development completed.

Creating New Commercial Opportunities Within Existing Showrooms
Retail Innovation + Community Integration
A wellness and recreation company wanted to strengthen customer relationships and make greater use of its established retail showrooms across the state. Customer experiences revealed opportunities beyond conventional product presentations. I developed concepts for recurring activities, educational experiences, product exploration, and collaborations with complementary businesses and organizations. The showrooms could become places where customers returned for more than a purchase, while introducing new opportunities for participation, partnerships, and sales. The development considered the company's existing facilities, knowledgeable employees, customer interests, staffing, scheduling, commercial objectives, and the arrangements required to introduce recurring activities across multiple locations.
Development completed: A concept and business development framework for recurring showroom experiences and complementary commercial opportunities.
Status: Concept and strategic development completed; current client relationship.
-
Creating a Second Pathway for Youth Development
Program Innovation + Organizational Partnerships
An established nonprofit operated a paid youth workforce program but faced challenges with inconsistent participation and employer relationships. Rather than replacing the existing program, I developed a complementary leadership pathway offering young people additional ways to explore their interests, build confidence, gain practical experience, and take on responsibility. Businesses, professionals, and organizational partners could introduce participants to unfamiliar environments and fields. The concept also established opportunities for young people to progress into leadership roles and eventually mentor others. Supervision, mentoring, participant responsibilities, partnerships, and integration with the existing workforce program were addressed as part of the development.
Development completed: A complementary youth leadership and experiential learning pathway.
Status: Leadership pathway implemented.

Developing a Business Beyond Its Founder's Direct Involvement
Service Innovation + Strategic Expansion
A home organization and transition business had ambitions to become a nationally recognized brand, with services eventually delivered through local operations rather than depending on its founder's personal involvement in every engagement. I developed complementary service concepts and partnership opportunities around major life transitions, including downsizing, establishing a new home, and adapting to changing circumstances. The concepts included educational workshops, relationships with senior living and social service organizations, commercial organization services, and Styled and Settled, an offering connecting home organization with furnishings and complementary services. These opportunities were considered alongside the repeatable services, professional relationships, and organizational capacity needed for expansion into additional markets.
Development completed: New service concepts, partnership opportunities, and a phased strategic framework supporting broader market expansion.
Status: Positioning and partnership concepts adopted; broader expansion remains a long term goal.

Connecting Seasonal Demand to Broader Business Growth
Commercial Strategy + Regional Business Development
A landscaping and outdoor services company wanted to expand across a three county market while introducing a seasonal holiday lighting service. I developed a strategy that used the seasonal offering as an entry point for relationships with homeowners, builders, realtors, property managers, and other relevant businesses. Those introductions also created opportunities to discuss the company's wider services throughout the year. Marketing and outreach were supported by recommendations for lead management, staffing, referrals, and the owner's growing business development responsibilities. The company experienced substantial growth and secured major contracts during the engagement.
Development completed: A marketing and business development strategy connecting seasonal demand with longer term commercial relationships.
Status: Strategy adopted and implemented.
-
Extending Veterinary Expertise Beyond the Hospital
Professional Partnerships + Community Education
An independent veterinary hospital wanted to strengthen its local presence and reach more pet owners while preserving its personal approach to care. I developed educational and partnership concepts that brought veterinary expertise into familiar community settings, including family destinations, public activities, and organizations involved in animal welfare. Workshops, demonstrations, and collaborative programs would introduce useful animal care knowledge while building relationships beyond the examination room. The proposals considered professional responsibilities, staffing, participating organizations, facilities, costs, and practical requirements.
Development completed: Veterinary education and partnership concepts supporting community relationships and longer term local growth.
Status: Proposals provided for client implementation.
-
Creating Greater Independence for Business Owners
Leadership Capacity + Organizational Development
Across several engagements, business owners had reached a point where continued growth depended heavily on their personal involvement in daily decisions and operations. I developed strategies addressing leadership responsibilities, delegation, staffing, internal communication, service development, and organizational capacity. For some businesses, greater independence at their existing scale was the priority. For others, strengthening internal capabilities would create room for additional services, locations, partnerships, or larger initiatives.
Development completed: Organizational strategies designed to reduce dependence on individual owners and support greater operational independence.
Status: Assessments and strategic development completed across multiple engagements.

Bringing Commercial and Community Interests Together Through Events
Concept Development + Collaborative Initiatives
Events can create opportunities for businesses, organizations, audiences, and charitable interests to participate in something with a shared purpose. I developed concepts connecting a wellness product experience with charitable fundraising and a youth basketball event with family activities, sponsorship, and toy giving. Each concept brought complementary participants and activities into a coordinated experience, with consideration for sponsor involvement, audience interests, funding, communication, facilities, staffing, safety, and delivery requirements.
Development completed: Event concepts and practical development plans connecting commercial participation with recreation, community engagement, and charitable support.
Status: Event concept development and planning completed.
